First HPHT Well Offshore Mauritania

The Fregate-1 deepwater exploration well was the first HPHT well to be drilled offshore Mauritania. The water depth at the location was 1,627m and well TD was planned to be approximately 5,850m TVD with an expected BHT of 170degC and PP of 14.8ppg. As part of the work scope, Zenith were contracted to provide a Drilling Manager to oversee the project during the well planning, and in country Drilling Superintendents run well operations. Zenith were also involved with the development and approval of the HPHT Joint Operations Manual, preparation and review of the Detailed Drilling Programme and the DWOP during well planning. All Dana and partner management, reported to the Zenith UK Drilling Manager.
